Anxiety, Panic and 'Feeling Dizzy',

"What the fuck..."
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know, I feel...I just feel dizzy....oh God."
"You are alright."
"No honestly I feel....I feel dizzy."

Hubert is an anxious bod. Neurotic symptoms pop up in him in a kind of St Vitus dance circularity that has gone on for decades. Of Hubert one can justifiably say 'if it not an arse then it is an elbow.'

Mary, the long suffering, Madonna wife puts up with it, primarily out of loyalty to their children, or that is what their friends think, as they chuckle,  "...well, she can't be staying with him for any other reason."

"You are alright, lie down."
"No, I don;t want  to lie down...I...I.just want to...oh God I feel... I want to get outside."
"Well, go for a walk, do you want me to come with you?"
"No, no ...I can handle this on my own."
That's rich thinks Mary, him adopting the heroic mode after once again, alarming and distressing everybody out of their socks.

Humour aside, the feeling of being dizzy can be a very distressing experience.;
you may seem suddenly light-headed, woozy or that the room is spinning. This is sometimes accompanied by a feeling that you might faint or pass out. It also may feel as though you are walking on a boat and it's hard to balance.

This is how Hubert described it when he had calmed down and 30 minutes later was driving Mary to the Supermarket. Hubert can be very articulate about his symptoms, as the Casualty Department at the local Hospital well know when he has consulted them on feeling dizzy post a dinner party for instance.

Hubert is a classic case of  feeling dizzy being  a common symptoms of stress, fear, anxiety and panic.
Research continues to find a significant link between anxiety and panic as potential causes of dizziness.

But there is hope for Hubert and his kind for the good news is that once you have dealt with your anxiety and panic issues, symptoms, including dizziness, can be  eliminated. 'CBT'  that is, cognitive behaviour therapy can be of help in this.

* However leaving the humorous take on Hubert aside if  you are having a hard time pinpointing the cause of a feeling of  dizziness, it is important that you consult your doctor.
