Why Maths is like Geology or Archeology

Maths are out there  in the world  we have  not discovered them, as science endeavours to pin down
reality, from quarks, neutrons, particles, atoms etc....one arrives at maths, something that is there in the world that we have discovered and not utilise to throw some light on our reality.
