The Squint taking a skewered look
Painting by Peter Cheevers
Why is the sky dark at night?
Where are all the lights in the night's sky?
Even when we know that space is full of shining stars the night sky still appears dark.
As we look up is there a point past the stars at which nothing exists or are our human eyes simply missing something in the sky?
Minute physics explains with a pen (and multiple dots) why the sky at night appears dark and how modern telescopes are helping us look into space in new ways.
