Once over the socialist wall the democratic garden is not so rosy

When the Eastern bloc of coutnries concertinaed in collapse its people were already looking avidly to the West for they equated democracy with the abundance of western consumerist societies; yes on the other side of the wall was an eldorado, a nirvana of plenty, and 20 years later, with the abundance still missing, they now blame democracy itself.

The paradigm of the 'West' as that land of plenty has been found as being very vulneravle indeed, so much so, there are many who may soon long for the old socialist order.
